Queen's and Ulster Universities

“The Stock Market Challenge project has been a brilliant success for all our students. One of our main objectives is to foster links with professional bodies and industry and this is a great way of bringing these elements together.” Dr. Lisa Bradley, Head of Department of International Business, University of Ulster
The Global Investor simulations offer a unique means of engaging with undergraduates interested in a career in the financial services sector.
Students gain a real insight into business and financial services in an informal environment that allows them to demonstrate their qualities and skills.
Students from the following universities and courses have attended the events which have been running in Northern Ireland since 2009-10:
Queen’s University:Accounting, Actuarial Science, Business Economics, Economics, Finance, Maths & Finance, and Computer Science.
University of Ulster Business School: Banking & Finance, Business with Computing, Accounting, Finance & Investment Analyst, Financial Engineering, and Computing with Business
The Finance Lab simulation provides a sophisticated and challenging experience for undergraduates. Feedback from academics at the Department for International Business at Magee, and at Queen’s University’s Management School, indicate that the simulation-based activity is closer to the work they do in their finance-related courses.
The opportunity helps further links with Northern Ireland's IT sector, in particular the capital markets support software sector. The project sponsors provide a career development opportunity for the winners of the university events e.g. a short work placement or study tour of the company.
